Both IP67 and IP68 ratings address water submersion, but they are applied differently. IP67 defines protection against temporary submersion under standardized test conditions. On the other hand, IP68 allows the manufacturer to specify deeper or prolonged submersion parameters.

IP67 enclosures are commonly selected for standardized, commercially available applications. IP68 enclosures are specified for extended or deeper submersion.
