Engineered Submersible Enclosures for Infrastructure Applications

Protecting Electrical Systems From Storm Surges, Flood Mitigation, and Prolonged Submersion

Growth in infrastructure investment has driven the demand for submersible enclosures. Much of that investment targets environments where electrical systems are subjected to persistent moisture, such as tunnels, coastlines, and structures around wharves and piers.

SLAYSON® has partnered with electrical engineering leaders from across the globe to design and deliver submersible enclosures for infrastructure, ensuring long-term operational continuity for industrial applications.

Resilience Against Infrastructure Environmental Threats

Standard enclosures can fail when exposed to standing water, impact debris, and corrosive agents common in utility and industrial environments. Our submersible infrastructure enclosures are designed for durability against:

  • Continuous Submersion (NEMA 6P / IP68): Sealed against prolonged submersion and the ingress of salt, sand, and waterborne particles across coastal zones and flood-prone areas.
  • High Impact & Crush Resistance (IK10): Rated to withstand direct strikes from wind-driven hurricane debris and heavy objects carried by floodwater. Plastic enclosures can crack under these forces, breaking their watertight seal and exposing internal components. Stainless steel housings absorb impact without fracturing.
  • Corrosive Resistance: Manufactured from Marine Grade 316L Stainless Steel and aluminum. 316L Stainless Steel does not degrade under UV exposure and resists the chemical agents found in water treatment plants, food processing facilities, and contaminated floodwater.

Enclosure Applications for Infrastructure

SLAYSON® provides the specialized housing required for a wide range of infrastructure:

  • Tunnels & Underground: NEMA 6P and IP68 protection for vital electrical equipment in subsurface environments subject to water ingress.
  • Renewable Energy: Enclosure solutions for solar and wind projects in coastal and low-lying areas most impacted by rising water levels.
  • Rail Industry: Submersible protection for the rail industry and civil engineering specialties to ensure long-term system reliability.
  • Automation & Control: Robust housing for complex electrical systems across a variety of sectors, from food manufacturing to power utility companies.

Custom Infrastructure Enclosure Solutions

Infrastructure projects do not always fit a standard mold. We offer Modified Off-The-Shelf (MOTS) services and custom enclosures to meet the unique spatial and depth constraints of your project.

From welded hubs to precise cutouts, our engineers work with your CAD models and markup templates to ensure every enclosure is delivered ready for immediate site integration.

 Infrastructure Enclosure Engineering Support

Whether you are designing for water treatment systems, power utilities, underground tunnels, or coastal renewable energy, choosing the right submersible enclosures for infrastructure is critical to long-term system reliability.

Take the next step in your project planning. Our engineering team is available to consult on your specific depth, material, and integration requirements. Frequently Asked Questions

What infrastructure projects can benefit from SLAYSON enclosures?2026-08-20T01:14:33+00:00

SLAYSON solutions can support applications across tunnels and underground systems, water treatment, utilities, renewable energy, rail, flood-prone infrastructure, and other electrical engineering projects where environmental protection is critical.

Can SLAYSON enclosures be integrated into existing infrastructure designs?2026-08-20T01:13:50+00:00

Yes. SLAYSON provides engineering support, CAD models, drawings, and modified or custom enclosure solutions to help engineers integrate enclosures into new construction and existing infrastructure projects.

Are SLAYSON infrastructure enclosures resistant to impact and corrosion?2026-08-20T01:13:18+00:00

SLAYSON offers enclosure solutions designed for demanding infrastructure environments, including options with IK10 impact resistance and corrosion-resistant materials such as 316L stainless steel and aluminum.

Why use a submersible enclosure instead of a standard outdoor enclosure?2026-08-20T01:12:13+00:00

Standard outdoor enclosures may protect against rain and weather exposure but are not necessarily designed for prolonged submersion. A submersible enclosure provides a higher level of protection when electrical equipment may be exposed to standing or rising water.

What infrastructure applications require submersible electrical enclosures?2026-08-20T01:10:57+00:00

Submersible enclosures can be used in infrastructure exposed to flooding, storm surges, prolonged moisture, or water ingress, including tunnels, rail systems, utilities, coastal facilities, water treatment infrastructure, and areas around wharves and piers.
