Submersible Enclosures
Trust SLAYSON® for Your NEMA 6, NEMA 6P & IP67 / IP68 Enclosure
SLAYSON® is the leading global manufacturer of NEMA 6, NEMA 6P and IP67/ IP68 Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Brass, and Polyurethane submersible enclosures. We specialize in NEMA 6, NEMA 6P and IP67/ IP68 enclosures that protect electronic controls and mission-critical systems for the industrial, commercial, infrastructure, and defense sectors.
The world’s environmental conditions are changing, and so too are the expectations around protecting electronic controls and mission-critical systems. SLAYSON® specializes in engineering robust and proven NEMA 6, NEMA 6P and IP67/ IP68 Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) enclosures to protect vital equipment from water and dust ingress.
SLAYSON® NEMA 6 and NEMA 6P enclosures are commonly made from high-grade stainless steel. However, we also offer enclosures in alternate materials, such as powder-coated aluminum and polyurethane composite, and they come in a wide range of standard sizes and shapes.
NEMA 6P-rated enclosures and boxes give you the ultimate protection for watertight or submersible applications. A NEMA 6P rating confirms the enclosure will safeguard sensitive equipment in difficult environments, for example, when fully submerged for a prolonged time and in washdowns.
Industry-Leading SLAYSON® COTS Submersible Enclosures
All SLAYSON® enclosures are engineered in local facilities and tested for dust and liquid ingress, thermal cycling, salt spray corrosion, shock, and vibration resistance, EMC/EMP/RFI immunity, and many other standards. This ensures complete protection of electronic controls and mission-critical systems.
SLAYSON® makes it quick and easy to order a Commercial off-the-shelf submersible enclosure. We save you time and money by delivering COTS enclosure systems that immediately meet the precise specifications for their application and environment.
SLAYSON® has the most diverse selection of NEMA 6, NEMA 6P and IP67/ IP68 COTS enclosures on the market to protect your equipment in the harshest environments. We offer a wide range of series and sizes for any industry, including industrial, commercial, infrastructure, and defense.
Materials, Certifications & Standards
Stainless Steel

Type 316 stainless steel is the primary material for our NEMA 6 and NEMA 6P enclosures due to its superior corrosion resistance and strength under pressure. With higher chrome and nickel content, it withstands harsh environments, especially saltwater exposure. It also offers lower surface oxidation, eliminating the need for coatings. SLAYSON® enclosures come standard with a polished finish but are available in non-reflective blasted and other finishes.
Aluminium

Aluminum alloys like 5052 and 6061 are used in some NEMA 6 and NEMA 6P applications, though they require protective coatings to meet standards. While corrosion resistance is reasonable, coatings like powder coating enhance durability in marine environments. SLAYSON® offers a range of coatings for aluminum enclosures, making them suitable for IP67 / IP68-rated applications where corrosion is less critical
Polyurethane

Rigid polyurethane composite is primarily used in our SUBSEA enclosures, designed for extreme pressure environments. Naturally corrosion-resistant, it performs well in marine applications and comes standard with Type 316 stainless steel hardware for added protection. Its design allows for increased wall thickness and minimal joints, reducing fracture points. SLAYSON® can manufacture polyurethane enclosures in various colors to match specific project needs.
Brass

Brass is used in SLAYSON® enclosures where conductivity, corrosion resistance, and durability are key factors. With a high copper content, it provides excellent resistance to moisture and certain corrosive environments, making it suitable for select marine and industrial applications. SLAYSON® brass enclosures are available with various finishes, including polished and anti-tarnish coatings, to enhance longevity and maintain performance in demanding conditions.

UL
UL certification is a safety standard issued by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to verify that products meet rigorous electrical, mechanical, and fire protection requirements. UL-certified enclosures undergo strict testing to ensure compliance with industry regulations, enhancing reliability and safety in industrial, commercial, and hazardous environments where regulatory approval is essential.

NEMA 6
NEMA 6 is a rating by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) for enclosures that provide complete protection against dust and strong water ingress, including temporary submersion. Though not rated for prolonged immersion like NEMA 6P, it ensures robust sealing and reliability in demanding environments, ideal for industrial, outdoor, and washdown applications where short-term submersion or heavy water exposure is a concern.

NEMA 6P
NEMA 6P is a rating defined by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) for enclosures that provide complete protection against dust, water ingress, and corrosion. It ensures durability in harsh conditions, including prolonged submersion. These enclosures are used in industrial, marine, and underground applications where environmental sealing is critical.

IP67
IP67 is an Ingress Protection rating defined by IEC 60529, indicating complete resistance to dust and temporary water submersion up to 1 meter. The first digit (6) signifies total dust-tight protection, while the second digit (7) confirms waterproofing for short periods under defined depths, making it ideal for harsh and wet environments.

IP68
IP68 is an Ingress Protection rating defined by IEC 60529, indicating complete resistance to dust and prolonged water submersion beyond 1 meter. The first digit (6) signifies total dust-tight protection, while the second digit (8) confirms waterproofing under specified depths and durations, making it ideal for harsh and submerged environments.

IK10
IK10 is the highest impact protection rating under the IEC 62262 standard, indicating an enclosure can withstand 20 joules of impact energy. This equates to a 5kg object dropped from 400mm. IK10-rated enclosures provide maximum resistance against mechanical impacts, making them ideal for vandal-prone and high-risk environments.

EMC
EMC-shielded enclosures are designed to block electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI), ensuring compliance with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards. They feature conductive materials, gaskets, and coatings that prevent signal leakage and external interference, making them essential for protecting sensitive electronics in industrial, military, and medical applications.
